Christ the redeemer

The Orange is on a winning spree. They continued from where they left against Spain, beating the Aussies 3-2 in a hard fought match which tilted the momentum either way, before the Dutch sealed the match with the third goal. To be frank I had already assumed Dutch beating the Aussies convincingly, but I was surprised to see the Aussies play like champions. They attacked the Dutch goal at will and scared the living daylights out of the Dutch team. Body language of the Dutch coach Luis Van Gaal said it all. A smile appeared on his face only when the Dutch took the lead in the fag end of the match. The contributors to this win were the superstars Arjen Robben an old war horse and the reliable RVP. The third goal was scored by an unknown entity, as of now, Memphis Depay.

Dutch too hot to handle for the Kangaroos

The Aussies surprised everyone and shocked the Orange supporters when they scored immediately after Arjen Robben had scored. Tim Cahill the veteran was the culprit for the Dutch. There was not a single dull moment during the match as both the teams were lightning fast in the field, the kind of football spectators like to see. To me the Aussies were unknown entity till yesterday (my bad), but looking at the way they played, I am sure in future they will be mentioned with lot of respect. The never say die attitude seen in the cricketers down under was to be seen in the Aussie football team as well. Unfortunately having lost to Chile few days earlier ended their chances in 2014 WC, though I think they will be proud of themselves having played good quality football throughout.

The Orange on the other hand are going from strength to strength and asserting their presence; compelling the football pundits to consider them, as well, as one of the teams who can win 2014 world cup. The good thing about them is they are peaking at the right time and playing as a team, rather than individual brilliance. I think that is what separates them from other teams having superstars. The trio of Wesley Schneider, RVP and Arjen Roben reminds me of their yesteryear's stars Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkard. They as a group have had scored many goals in the past and were a force to reckon. The current trio is no different and is a potent force in the Dutch team. The strikers are aptly supported by their strong defense line up comprising of Nigel de Jong, Daryl Janmaat, Daley Blind and Bruno Martins. Having won both their matches they have almost confirmed their place in the 2^nd round, and their form is a warning to other teams. Orange is in vogue and they want to paint the town red, oh no, Orange.

 

The shock exit of Spain from this world cup is a bad news to many a fans including me, What went wrong when the team had all the superstars would surely be probed and a post mortem of their performance would be carried out. Their 0-2 loss to Chile was the final nail in their coffin. RIP
