It took some effort from Dhoni and co to overcome the hurdle with some gracious help from the West Indian bowlers who bowled waywardly contributing to the Indian score line. West Indies have to do a lot of introspection to keep alive their hopes in the competition.

 

Gayle Storm never took off

 

The fortune of the Maroons depend a lot on how their most charismatic, dangerous, swashbuckling player Chris Gayle ticks. If he gets going no bowler on this earth, no matter how talented, highly rated, fearsome he is, can stop his pyro techniques. He can simply tear you apart with no effort and caution. This avatar of his can turn impossible into very much possible. He has demonstrated this ability many a times in past and in the current version of this show piece. Unfortunately this wasn’t his day and he fell into the well devised trap of the Indians, skying a shot into the safe hands of a jubilant Indian fielder. Gayle storm which was supposed to hit the arena never took off and was a damp squib by his standards. With his demise, the top order committed hara-kiri which has become a norm for last few years or so. It pains to see at times the talented West Indians falter the legacy of their greats. Indian bowling attack which has come good so far, never allowed the Gayle storm any free movement which could create havoc. A chained Gayle storm couldn’t do much but bite the dust. Half the battle done and won. Fans would have to wait some longer to see the Gayle storm thunder down under.

 

Dhoni, bowlers extend World Cup streak

 

With four wins on a trot, Men in Blue are on a roll, much to the satisfaction and happiness of the Indian fans who are travelling continents to support the Men in Blue. WACA, Perth was no different. Indians were in numbers, wearing the tri color in all its glory. Beating drums, dancing, singing and even praying to see the Men in Blue win. Indian cricketers did not disappoint their fans, though giving them some scary moments. It has been surreal so far if you are an Indian supporter to see your favorite players come good when it matters in an international show piece like the ICC World Cup. The Indian team has ticked all the right boxes at the right time, resulting in them sitting at the top in their group. Looking at their current form, it would require a mammoth effort from other teams to see them on a losing side. The momentum is with the Indians now which they would like to continue and accelerate at the business end of the tournament. Continuous success can also be dangerous if not handled with care, it can induce complacency, over confidence which in turn can result in condescending behavior. The Men in Blue I hope will guard themselves against these self-destructive elements and continue the winning show. Here’s wishing the Indian team the best in future. Make India proud again and for sure “Don’t Give It Back”.

Come Friday, 6th March and India take on the West Indies in the ICC Cricket World Cup. In India, on the same day Holi, The festival of colors would be celebrated. Indian supporters would love to see the men in blue get past the calypsos, augmenting their joy and celebrations. While as the Calypsos would be eager to spoil the party of the Indians. They have already declared their intentions. Darren Sammy has fired the first salvo at the Indians by saying “Indians will celebrate Holi and we will celebrate the victory”. These provocations wouldn’t instigate the Indians to respond, Dhoni is someone who pays no heed to such claims, and instead he prefers to respond on the pitch by winning the game. Many a times I wonder why such statements are made, is it to provoke the opposition? Or to tom tom once ability? Many a times such statement makers have to bite a humble pie, also many a times they suffer from a foot in the mouth syndrome. Indians are well placed on the top in their pool with all wins, while as West Indies would like to forget the thrashing at the hands of the Proteas by winning this battle.

Gayle Storm – Will it Thunder again?

 

Indians have a good week’s rest before they play against the Caribbean’s, this will definitely rejuvenate them and help them to come out all guns blazing at them. Long breaks can also have adverse effect, when the winning teams lose their momentum. This can make them complacent and induce an inertia. But they being thorough professionals will cope up with it, is what the fans presume. The biggest threat which can stop the winning spree of the Indians is the unstoppable, belligerent, smiling assassin named Chris Gayle. The men in blue would love to see his back as soon as possible, for they know if the Gayle storm thunders, they would be blown away without a trace. The Indians would love to see, as they say “Nip it in the bud” and not allow the Gayle innings to blossom. The big man has already got the license to fire as after his debacle against the Proteas. He would like to do an encore and storm the men in blue. The Calypsos would be banking heavily on their star batsman to tick against the rampaging Indians. Besides Gayle they have some quality players in Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Smith who can rock the speeding boat of the Indians. Time will tell who has the last laugh.

2015 ICC world cup has been a surreal experience so far for the Men in Blue. They have performed to their potential with some clinical precision to come out winners in all their battles so far. The most vaunted batting has some out good, living up to the expectations. Though the surprise package has to be the bowling display which has pleasantly surprised all and sundry. The bowlers have complimented well, the batting mainstay in Kohli, Rahane, Dhawan and Raina. The other stand out performance so far has been from the fielding unit. The butter fingers have suddenly turned electric in the field. Though, no one is complaining on this revelation. The fielding unit has never been so potent, and their performance would definitely give stiff competition to a cheetah named Jonty Rhodes. All in all the men in blue look invincible and determined to retain the cup in their own cabinet. The pundits, former players are going gaga over the improved performance of team India and are ready to put their money on the blue.

What better occasion than HOLI, the Men in Blue would need to augment the festivities and happiness of the Indian fans. An Indian win against the Caribbean’s would not only add to the gaiety but also inch closer towards tightening their grip on the cup that matters. West Indians would be eager to play spoilsport and stay alive in the competition. Looking at the fire power in both the ranks it ought to be a humdinger of a match. Indians with their flawless performance so far are clear favorites to cross the line ahead of their counterparts, though they have to cross many hurdles in mavericks in maroon. The battle is just round the corner and time will tell who comes out winner in flying colors of HOLI.

His cheeky smile during the assault is endearing to say the least and is a treat to the eyes. This type of his inning was witnessed many a times in the past, proves that the current one was not a flash in the pan and another might be on its way very soon.
